I know about that, what you said about the Jews, they we’re
deported from Loods 24, near the Poortgebouw. for me it wasn’t
the case of the amount of people get killed. Only 800 people
died of the bombing, and that is compared with the thousends
of Jews, who got deported from Loods 24 nothing. Rotterdam
had about 12.000 Jews before the war, and after the war mostly
all of them were gone.

But for me the bombing of our city, stands for a universal thing.
It stands for the insane humanity. It’s a deed on it’s own.
Besides Rotterdam cities like Dresden, Berlin, Warschau, Guernica,
Tokio, Hamburg, Neurenberg, Coventry, Londen, Belgrado and
ofcourse Hiroshima, etc.

and ‘nu we het toch over Rotterdam hebben’, many more Rotterdam jews were killed during 1940-45, compared with the amount of civilians that died during the bombing of Rotterdam. Maybe Marcel Mohring is right when he discussed “the myth of Rotterdam” at De Unie several weeks ago…
