stuff to do and hear and see

June 2nd, there’s a thing called ‘Diss urban’ on the S.S. Stubnitz (a boat close
to Las Palmas and the ‘new’ Luxor Theatre (Kop van Zuid). I don’t know what
it is exactly, but that flyer looks pretty funny… On the back it says ‘The new
urbans are dissin’ the urban ideology’. Ha ha! See if you can find one, They’re
nominated ‘best flyer of the year’, Gyz and me think.

Also on the Stubnitz (click here to see the entire programme) next friday (june
3rd) there’s a party starring I-F and Alden Tyrell, which I think could be really,
really good. That same Friday I’m playing a freaky DJ-set on the freakish
freakshow ‘Freaks on Tour’, which is a finnisage party in Calypso, straight after
the Freaks on Tour Art Show in the Funkie House basement, featuring new stuff
by my bud Stefan Madslusha.

Finally, but not Lionelly, there’s the first of two long awaited ‘de vogels have
come home-party’ parties. This first one (next sunday, june 5th) we play the
- you guessed right – S.S. Stubnitz. I guess you’ve heard about that place by
now. Anyway, it’ll be a blast. Starts at 8, so eat early. Or don’t eat at all.

This months book tip comes from my friend and inspiration Will. He’s an artist
slash designer slash writer living in Amsterdam, but speaking english like I’ve
seen only englishmen do, so I guess he’s from there. He operates under the
AKA ‘Goodwill’ (if you’d like to Google him) which suits him quite well, I guess.
Anyway the book is called ‘Fahrenheit 451’ by Ray Bradbury. It’s about a fire-
man unable to cope with the sleeping state a Big-Brother-esque government
has slowly driven him to take part in. Mostly because of enchanting neighbours
he manages to get his senses back and he forces himself to do the impossible,
by simply doing what he feels must be right. Written in a very beautiful poetic
and personal style, Fahrenheit 451 is a must read for people who enjoy frantic
literature, originality and forecasting.

    Hey Rufus,

De korte verhalen van Ray Bradbury zijn ook een aanrader. Voor de liefhebber van “echte” sci-fi. The martian Chronicles, super.

Fahrenheit 451; de film is ook zeker de moeite waard. Ik geloof dat ze alweer bezig zijn met een remake zoals den trend is heden ten dagen.
