Here’s to you, Charlie Brown!

I made this title sequence (again, in a crazy collaboration with intern Sander van Loon) for Victor Vroegindeweijs dreamy documentary ‘Gaandeweg’ [Along the Way]. A beautiful film about his father, the Dutch poet Rien Vroegindeweij. It turned out quite ok. I guess we’re open for film business!

After viewing the post Blog Battle! at trendbeheer.com, I thought maybe this one above is even more bizarre.

Han Sunday

Han Solo
Gravitation is a property by which all objects attract each other.

From 12 October until 9 November I will present Han Solo at Cokkie Snoei. It is my first solo exhibition since founding the HuMobisten in 2000. This show features work consisting of photographs, objects, installations and a video focusing on ‘falling and letting go’.

‘Han Solo’ is the classic example of the adventurer with the golden heart in the movie Star Wars. In Han’s personality virtues like courage and companionship are combined with vices like cupidity and debauchery.

Opening reception: Sunday 12 October 16:00 – 18:00
The exhibition will be officially opened at 16:30 by Ari Versluis.

Following the opening, the after party will erupt in Café De Unie at 18:00.
Full of surprise acts, the ‘Han Solo’ room guarantees in-your-face Roccalberti, Dandy Dave!, David Vunk and all the way from Paris: Ben et Béné.

Eva Brown

Upcoming shows to go see are:
1. Tomorrow The Night Marchers play the waterfront
2. The day after, Fata ‘El Moustache’ Morgana (with basically all Mees’ men as members) & Eva Braun play the OT301 (cd release party for both bands)

Suus and me were asked to do the Eva Braun artwork and it turned out the thing you can see right above this here picture of Eva Braun herself. Pretty nifty huh? We took Eva Braun’s picture and turned her into someone quite new (and quite old). Just as the band has. Also please observe the typeface Suus designed! If that ain’t fresh, I don’t know what is. Too bad the band didn’t go for it. I won’t go into ‘why’, but let’s leave it at ‘every client has the right to refuse a design and that’s that.’ Hope I make it to their gig though, as musicians they kick lots of ass!

…en vooral ook ‘gezien worden’

Still recovering from last friday… YES became quite a nice exhibition and the opening went truly great. See if you spot yourself on one of the photos Frank Hanswijk took of that opening and after party. If you haven’t seen YES yet… it runs until november 16!

Furthermore, with the help of one intern –who shall go nameless or otherwise will be mentioned way too often– I made the opening credits for Victor Vroegindeweij’s film ‘Gaandeweg’, a film about his father, the poet Rien Vroegindeweij. The film turned out great as did the title sequence, which will soon be available on my YouTube site. This of course will be advertised right here on the good old HuMobisten site.

Meanwhile, we’ll be seeing you guys next Sunday at Gyz’ Han Solo show at Cokkie Snoei.

Peace out, de vogel
